A Tribute to 700 Years of Marco Polo

This year marks the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death, one of history’s greatest explorers. Born in Venice in 1254, Marco Polo undertook an extraordinary journey to the East, crossing unknown territories and cultures. His renowned work, Il Milione (The Book of Marvels of the World), chronicles his travels and has inspired generations of adventurers. On this anniversary, we honor the man who expanded the boundaries of the known world and fostered understanding between civilizations.

Pioneer of the Silk Road

Marco Polo is celebrated as a pioneer of the Silk Road, the ancient trade network linking East and West. Beginning his journey in 1271, he traveled from Venice across the Mediterranean and Black Sea, through Anatolia and the Iranian plateau, to Samarkand and Bukhara. Crossing the Taklamakan Desert and Pamir Mountains, he ultimately reached Kublai Khan’s court in China. Polo’s detailed accounts of Eastern cultures and economies opened new paths for trade and cultural exchange, cementing the Silk Road as a bridge between civilizations.

Materials of the East

One of the most distinctive elements of this Limited Edition is the offset dial, a feature typical of high-end watches. Crafted from white mother-of-pearl, an iridescent and precious material, the dial is framed by a polished steel ring. The background, with a map of Asia printed on fine papyrus, evokes Marco Polo's legendary journeys, narrating the adventure that cemented him as one of history's most famous explorers.
