Our aesthetic research focused on the roots of classical and Renaissance art, leading us to choose acanthus leaves as the main motif for the decoration of the Nereide Acquaforte case. A symbol of beauty and harmony, the acanthus was widely used in ancient Greece and later revived by the great masters of the Renaissance. We have carefully reinterpreted this element, blending tradition and modernity to create a timepiece with refined and timeless aesthetics, reflecting our passion for art and craftsmanship.

Acquaforte is an engraving technique developed during the Renaissance, perfected in Italy by masters like Venetian Giambattista Tiepolo, who used it to craft intricate details and add depth to surfaces. The process starts with applying a protective layer to the metal, where the design is engraved. The plate is then immersed in an acid bath, which etches the exposed areas. Once complete, ink is applied manually to the engraved sections, enhancing contrasts and creating depth and relief in the design.

The Craftsmanship
Every engraving tells a story of artistry and precision. The intricate acanthus leaves are meticulously etched, capturing the perfect blend of Renaissance inspiration and contemporary expertise.

Hand-aged leather band
The aged leather strap, a product of Tuscan craftsmanship, is created in one of Italy’s most renowned leather districts. The aging process, performed using brushes to create light abrasions, gives the leather a worn and sophisticated look. Each piece is handcrafted and develops a natural patina over time, enhancing the character of the watch. Even the finely engraved buckle mirrors the decorative pattern of the case, creating an aesthetic continuity that highlights the meticulous attention to detail.

The Lion’s Legacy
The caseback is distinguished by the iconic image of the Lion of Saint Mark, the symbol of the Serenissima Republic of Venice. This winged lion, holding a book with the inscription "Pax Tibi Marce Evangelista Meus" (Peace to you, Mark, my evangelist), represents strength and wisdom. For centuries, it has been the guardian of Venice's history and glory, appearing on coins, flags, and works of art, embodying the city's power and protection.
