The caseback

The magnificent state galley of the Doges was the most famous ceremonial ship of the ancient times and is recalled by in the engraving on the caseback. With this watch we pay our homage to Venetian naval tradition.

Chronograph functions

Bucintoro has two indicators for the chronograph functions. Hinged on the central shaft is the chronograph seconds hand, which also allows to read speed (on the kilometer distance) through the tachymetric scale located on the rehaut. The 30-minute chronograph counter is at 9 o'clock and contrasts with the continuous seconds counter at 3 o'clock.

A technical focus on NE86...

The Seiko NE86 is an automatic caliber with a chronograph function, featuring a column wheel and a vertical clutch. These allows for the pushers to operate smoothly and accurately. Additionally, the "three-pointed hammer ", another prominent feature of this movement, ensures an instant reset of the chronograph seconds hands.

The lead time spans between 7 and 9 months. The NE86 belongs to Seiko's Premium Line and is hand-assembled by expert watchmakers at their factory in Iwate prefecture, Japan. This makes it an even more fascinating caliber.

There are many chronograph calibers of unquestionable value and reliability, think about the excellent ETA7750 or Sellita SW500.

However, for Bucintoro we preferred to use a more modern and high-performance automatic movement. Features such as the column wheel and vertical clutch are enhancements which simply make the NE86 more advanced than its competitors.

This choice has allowed us to create a chronograph with proportioned and modern shapes: the 40mm case is compact and particularly versatile thanks to a 48mm distance between the lugs.
