Guide to Your Venezianico

This guide will help you get to know your Venezianico watch better and keep it in optimal condition.

Mechanical Movement

All our watches are equipped with a mechanical movement, free of batteries and electronic components. Their energy comes exclusively from a system of gears and a mainspring. They are divided into two categories:

  • Automatic: powered by wrist movement through an oscillating weight. Power reserve is about 40–42 hours. If the watch stops, it can be restarted by gently shaking it or winding it manually (20–40 crown turns).
  • Manual: requires regular winding by turning the crown clockwise. A full wind requires about 30–40 turns. Do not force beyond the point of resistance. Power reserve depends on the caliber and is indicated in the technical sheet.

Time and Date Setting

  1. Unscrew the crown: unscrew gently until the first position.
  2. Manual winding: in this position, you can wind the movement.
  3. Date: pull the crown to the second position and turn clockwise. Do not change the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM.
  4. Time: pull the crown to the last position and adjust the hands.
  5. Close the crown: push and screw down to ensure water resistance.

Daily Use

  • Water resistance: the water resistance rating is indicated on the case back or in the technical sheet. Always screw down the crown before exposure to water. ATM ratings are laboratory tests and do not reflect real-life conditions. Models under 20 ATM are not suitable for water use; those rated 20 ATM or more can be used for recreational diving. After exposure to seawater, rinse with fresh water and dry thoroughly.
  • Magnetic fields: avoid strong sources (smartphones, speakers, tablets).
  • Shocks and vibrations: do not wear the watch during activities that may cause strong impacts.
  • Temperatures: avoid sauna, hot tubs, and prolonged freezing conditions.

Bracelets and Straps

  • We recommend having bracelet adjustments performed by a watchmaker.
  • If your model is equipped with a quick-release system, straps can be replaced easily without tools.
  • For added security of bracelet screws, we recommend using light threadlocker (Loctite 222).

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: use a soft cloth. For steel bracelets, rinse with fresh water and dry thoroughly.
  • Servicing: recommended every 4–5 years to ensure accuracy and water resistance.
  • Warranty: 2-year coverage against manufacturing defects (excluding damage caused by improper use).

Movement Accuracy

Each Venezianico movement is adjusted in multiple positions to ensure stability and reliability. Standard factory tolerances are as follows:

  • Venezianico V5000: approx. ±3 seconds/day (proprietary caliber, superior to COSC chronometer standard)
  • Soprod M100 and derivatives: -4 to +6 seconds/day (equivalent to COSC chronometer standard)
  • Sellita SW200: -12 to +30 seconds/day
  • Miyota 9015 and derivatives: -10 to +30 seconds/day
  • Seiko NH35 and derivatives: -20 to +40 seconds/day
  • Seiko NE88 and derivatives: -15 to +25 seconds/day

Watch Complications

Some Venezianico models feature additional functions beyond simple hours, minutes, and seconds. The following table explains how they work and provides practical guidance for correct use.

Function Technical description How to use
GMT An additional hand makes one full rotation every 24 hours and indicates a second time zone on a dedicated scale (inner rehaut or bezel). Set the GMT hand using the crown in the intermediate position. It can be paired with a 24h rotating bezel to read a third time zone.
Chronograph An additional mechanism connected to the gear train that allows starting, stopping, and resetting a central hand (or counters) without affecting timekeeping. Start by pressing the upper pusher, stop with the same pusher, reset with the lower pusher. Never reset while the chronograph is running.
Power Reserve Indicator linked to the mainspring barrel showing the remaining tension of the mainspring. Consult it to know how many hours remain before the movement stops. Keep it above half scale for optimal performance.
Regulator Separate arrangement of hands: central minutes, hours and seconds on independent sub-dials, for precise time reading. Read minutes from the central hand, hours from the dedicated sub-dial, and seconds from the sub-dial. No different adjustment required compared to a traditional watch.
Date Numbered disc that advances once per day via a semi-instantaneous date-change mechanism. Set the date using the crown in the intermediate position. Do not adjust between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM to avoid damaging the mechanism.
