The Meeting of Two Venetian Icons

Venice has always lived in balance with the sea. Its maritime trade routes, naval achievements, and seafaring culture helped make the Serenissima one of the most influential cities in history. Nereide Salone Nautico Venezia 2026 was born from the meeting of two entities that share this same heritage. On one side is the Nereide collection, inspired by the Venetian submarine of the same name and designed to accompany the exploration of the sea. On the other is the Venice Boat Show, the event that today celebrates innovation, tradition, and the future of international yachting within the historic Arsenale.

The Light of the Lagoon

The ivory-white dial evokes the timeless elegance of classic nautical design, where clarity and legibility are essential for life at sea. The gold-tone indices and hands, on the other hand, draw inspiration from mosaics, stucco work, and architectural details that enrich Venice’s artistic heritage. Completing the design, the countdown bezel with a highlighted 10-minute segment recalls the instruments used in regattas, reinforcing the model’s connection to nautical tradition and to the sea that has defined the identity of the Serenissima for centuries.

The Forge of the Serenissima

For centuries, the Arsenale of Venice was one of the most advanced shipbuilding centers in the world. It was here that the vessels contributing to the maritime power of the Serenissima took shape. In the early twentieth century, this tradition of innovation and engineering continued through new projects destined to shape the future of Italian navigation.

The Birth of Nereide

In 1911, the submarine Nereide took shape within the Arsenale of Venice, built to operate in the waters of the Adriatic Sea. The result of the most advanced technical knowledge of its time, it embodied the convergence of shipbuilding expertise, technological innovation, and strategic vision.

The “Mermaid” of the Adriatic

Launched in 1913, Nereide entered service with the Royal Italian Navy as one of the most advanced submarines of its generation. Its name, inspired by the sea nymphs of Greek mythology, reflects the deep bond between Venice, the sea, and the spirit of exploration that has long defined the city.

Subheading

The Submarine’s Final Voyage

With the outbreak of the First World War, the Adriatic became one of the principal theaters of naval operations. On August 5, 1915, during a mission near the island of Pelagosa, Nereide was struck by the Austro-Hungarian submarine U-5 and sank into the depths of the Adriatic Sea, securing its place in the history of the Italian Navy.

A Legacy That Continues

More than a century after its construction within the Arsenale of Venice, the submarine Nereide continues to stand as one of the most compelling expressions of Venetian naval tradition. Created for the Venice Boat Show 2026, this Limited Edition pays tribute to the origins of the collection and its deepest source of inspiration, celebrating the bond between innovation, maritime culture, and Venetian identity.
